Family Wellness & Life Skills
The Center offers free parenting and life skills training quarterly by certified counselors to adults and teenagers who live in Montgomery County. Additionally, our staff includes teachers who are certified in the following classes developed by Auburn University and other academic scholars: Anger Management, Relationship Smarts, Together We Can, Smart Steps for Step Families, Effective Black Parenting and Guiding Good Choices.
Our Objectives
- Provide opportunities for self-sufficiency, particularly for the parents of our children enrolled in our After-school Tutoring and Mentoring program.
- Teach participants life skills, impulse control and situation adaptability.
- Help participants learn how to practice healthy relationships.
- Decrease inappropriate behavior and social/emotional difficulties.
- Provide job training opportunities.
- Educate and remediate academic subject matter.
