Programs and Activities

New Beginnings seeks to increase student academic achievement, raise graduation rates and improve access to postsecondary credentials.  Doing so will help close achievement gaps for Montgomery’s most under-served and impoverished children, their parents, and the community. The Center provides After-School Tutoring, Mentoring, Summer Camp Enrichment and Family Wellness programs. Additionally, the Center offers periodically a variety of extra-curricular activities such as: Modeling, Dramatic Arts, Praise Dance, Creative Dance, Mime, Stepping, Health & Fitness, Athletics, Cheerleading, Financial Literacy, Art, Singing, Song Writing, etc.

After-School Tutoring & Mentoring Program

New Beginnings provides for children enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grades with virtual tutoring and mentoring, character-education, and consistent homework completion. Also, weekly family food boxes are available for pick-up by appointment only. Tutors utilize academic drills to strengthen core subjects, reading skills, and character development.

Mentoring has been incorporated into all New Beginnings’ After-School Tutoring and Mentoring programs offered to the general public. However, our Wednesday Night program focuses on one-on-one tutoring, character development and mentoring for 15 to 18 pre-approved children who are matched with The Episcopal Church of the Ascension members. Read more...

Summer Enrichment Program

Camp Adventure educates grades Pre-K through 12th in reading, writing, character education, mathematics, language arts and science. All academic subjects are taught by certified teachers. The Camp provides weekly field trips where the children enjoy cultural activities, educational outings and participate in community service projects. Read more...

Family Wellness Program

Our children are served well balanced meals each time that they convene. However, during the pandemic, we will provide for our participants and their families Family Food Boxes upon request twice a week and by appointment only. Read more...
