Programs and Activities

New Beginnings seeks to increase student academic achievement, raise graduation rates and access to postsecondary credentials which ultimately, closes achievement gaps within Montgomery’s most under-served and impoverished children, their parents, and their community. The Center provides After-School Tutoring, Mentoring, G.E.D. Tutorial Services, Summer Enrichment and Family Wellness programs to participants ranging in ages from 4 years old to adult.

After-School Tutoring Program

New Beginnings provides children in grades Pre-K through 12th with character-education, field trips, consistent homework completion and dinner. Tutors with academic drills strengthen core subjects, reading, critical thinking and character development. Read more...

G.E.D. Tutoring Program

In collaboration with Trenholm State Technical College under the leadership of Senator Quinton Ross, New Beginnings provides tutorial services for adults who have dropped out of school before obtaining their high school diploma and now desire to better their lives. Read more...

Mentoring Program

Mentoring has been incorporated into New Beginnings’ After-School Tutoring and G.E.D. programs. However, on Wednesdays, the Center provides a concentrated one-on-one tutoring, character development and mentoring for 15 to 18 children by The Episcopal Church of the Ascension members. Read more...

Summer Enrichment Program

Camp Adventure educates grades Pre-K through 12th in reading, writing, character education, mathematics, language arts and science. All academic subjects are taught by certified teachers. The Camp provides weekly field trips where the children enjoy cultural activities, educational outings and participate in community service projects. Read more...

Family Wellness Program

The center provides parenting and life skills training, including relationship, coping skills, financial literacy and anger management classes. Read more...
