What programs do New Beginnings offer?

The Center provides After-school Tutoriing and Mentoring programs, G.E.D. Tutorial Services, Family Wellness and Summer Enrichment activities to participants ranging in ages 4 years old to adult. For more details on our programs, please click here.

What is the cost for your tutoring programs?

FREE, all programs and services offered by the Center are sponsored by churches, business partners, supportive foundations, community organizations, government agencies, generous donors and our committed board of directors. For more details on how to support the Center, please click here.

When are program services offered?

After-school tutoring services are scheduled for the general public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays are reserved for a pre-approved select number of students based on The Episcopal Church of the Ascension's volunteer parishioner tutor assigned list. G.E.D. tutorial services are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Quarterly Life Skill sessions are offered to the general public. If you are interested in enrolling in our programs, please come by the Center between the hours of 12 noon and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and complete an application.

Are your programs offered year-round?

New Beginnings is open eleven months out of twelve (September through July). The Center is closed during the month of August and for all Montgomery Public School Board of Education scheduled holidays.

Does New Beginnings guarantee results?

No, our programs have been implemented to help the participants help themselves. Success depends on the person's background, intellect, cognitive ability, study habits and discipline. However, children who consistently participate in our After-School tutoring program receive higher grades, have better attendance and exhibit better conduct. Additionally, students who consistently receive G.E.D. tutorial services obtain their G.E.D. certificate. Those who take advantage of our program services lives’ are enriched and are more likely to become positive influencers in our community.
